In this vibrant, colourful, one-off painting, Gillian explores the idea of creating art about people without being restricted to the composition of a traditional portrait. Gillian used a photograph she had taken as the source image and sketched this onto an textured underpainting of coloured gesso. She then gradually built the image up in layers of acrylic and finally oil paints. This painting is on a box canvas 24 x 18 inches in size, which is unpainted and clean on the sides, signed by Gillian Hancey on the back and in the bottom right corner, and is ready to hang.
