This painting is based on a photo that Gillian took in Peru, which she decided to use as the focus of a painting due to the pose of the subject To create this piece, Gillian initially built up the portrait using blocks of colour and then later added various other shapes and elements to the piece with a variety of mark-making tools to capture the tones and make the piece visually appealing. The image is painted on a box canvas 50 x 40 cm in size, which is painted on the sides and signed by Gillian Hancey in the bottom right corner, and is ready to hang.
