'Who You Are'

About this painting

This mixed-media abstract piece features the vibrant colour palette and grid-like structure typical of Gillian’s work. To further explore the use of line in this piece, Gillian incorporated some monotone tartan patterns using both acrylic transfer and collage techniques and also used varying thicknesses of line to heighten contrasts and create more interest. Interestingly, Gillian started this piece in the same way that she often starts her work - with the image of a figure - but it gradually evolved into something completely different. This painting is on a box canvas 24 x 18 inches in size, which is painted white on the sides, signed by Gillian Hancey on the back and in the bottom right corner, and is ready to hang.
